Scripture
Luke 17:12-19 – “And as He entered into a certain village, there met Him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus Master, have mercy on us. And when He saw them, he said unto them, go show yourselves to the priests. And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And now of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving thanks: and he was a Samaritan (a foreigner). And Jesus answering said, were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not found any who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner (stranger)? Arise and go your way: your faith has made you whole”
Meditation / Motivation
In this portion of Scripture, we here again see the gentle power of thanksgiving. Ten lepers saw Jesus come into town, they lifted their voices and asked Him to have mercy on them. In Hebrews 4:16, the Lord said, you should come to the Throne of Grace to obtain mercy to help you in time of need. There are no restrictions to come to the Throne of Grace; the blood of Jesus has opened the way for us. Jesus asked them to go show themselves to the priests, and without any physical evidence of healing, they obeyed the words of Jesus and took action. This week, do not wait to see any physical evidence before you believe the Word of the Lord, respond to it, and take action. It was after they believed what He said without any physical evidence at this time, that they discovered they had been cleansed on their way.
But only one of them returned to give the Lord thanks. Be that “one” this week. That one returned and with a loud voice, he glorified the Lord. This means his thanksgiving was not small, his thanksgiving was not in a corner. “He glorified God, fell down at His feet, and gave Him thanks.” Do not be afraid to fall down at the Lord’s feet this week, with a heart full of thanksgiving. Your thanksgiving releases your faith, because Jesus said, “your faith has made you whole.” Wholeness means the man was not just healed like the other nine, but he was made whole and complete with nothing missing and everything perfected. As you engage Thanksgiving this week, the Lord is perfecting everything concerning your life. You are stepping into a life of wholeness. Jesus said to the man, “arise” – as you begin to thank God, you are arising out of every circumstance this week!
